The 2020 Impossible Games serves as host for Oslo Diamond League. Originally planned as the Bislett Games, the event format was changed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and renamed the Impossible Games on 23 April 2020 by the organisers. The event was held behind closed doors and televised on Norwegian state broadcaster NRK.
As part of the "impossible games" theme, the events were changed. Men participated in four traditional events -- 100 metre, pole vault, shot put, and discus throw. Women participated in only the 10,000 metres among traditional events and did not participate in field events. Unusual distance runs were the signature of this year's Bislett Games. Men and women participated in a 300 metre hurdles event, while women also did 200 metres. Women also participated in the 3000 metres run. Men participated in a 2,000 metre "virtual team" event, with one team in Nairobi, Kenya, while the other was in Bislett Stadium. The pole vault featured athletes competing in separate venues -- one competitor from his home in France while the other two participated on-site.
Paralympic T12 runner Salun Kashaali (sight) won the 100 metre men's race competing against normal runners, while Norwegian cross-country ace Therese Johaug ran the 10,000 metre exhibition, bettering her 2019 national championship time, 15 seconds away from being potentially eligible for the Norwegian Athletics Olympic Trials in 2021.
