The 2020 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships will be held between February 3-9, 2020 in Seoul, South Korea[1]. Held annually since 1999, the competition featured skaters from the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Medals were be awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The event will be held in the 5000 seated Mokdong Ice Rink, with its practice rink located in the same vicinity.[2]
Qualification[edit]
The competition is open to skaters representing any country, with the exception of Europe - who complete at the European Championships.
The minimum age requirement for each skater is 15 years old, before 1st July 2019, with each federation being allowed to send three skaters in each discipline, as long as they fulfil the minimum technical elements scores.[3]
Minimum Technical Elements Scores[edit]
The ISU presented the minimum technical elements scores, which must be achieved either during the 2018-19 or 2019-20 season.[3] Ice Dance is the only discipline that has had a significant change in scoring rules, as some base value scores and GOE expectations scales have been adjusted based on the results of last season, therefore only results from the 2019-20 season will count towards meeting the final minimum technical elements score.[3]
Discipline | SP / RD | FS / FD | Ref |
---|---|---|---|
Men’s | 28.00 | 46.00 | [3] |
Ladies | 23.00 | 40.00 | [3] |
Pairs | 25.00 | 42.00 | [3] |
Ice Dance | 28.00 | 44.00 | [3] |
Minimum TES must be reached separately in each segment
(not a total of the two segments). SP and FS scores may be attained at different events. |
