The 2020 Libertarian National Committee chair election took place on July 11, 2020 at the Libertarian National Convention to elect the next chairperson of the Libertarian National Committee (LNC), the governing body of the Libertarian Party. The incumbent Chair, Nicholas Sarwark, did not seek another term

There were 5 different candidates in the race. Joe-Bishop Henchman and Joshua Smith emerged as the main contenders. Bishop-Henchman was elected Chair on the seccond round

Background[edit]

Nicholas Sarwark was sucessfully re-elected into a third term as party chair in 2018. Sarwark was first elected to the position in 2014, making him the longest serving chair in the party’s history to date[2]. In March 2020, Sarwark announced he would not run for a fourth term[3].

Results[edit]

No one won a majority on the first round. Mike Shipley was eliminated, while Tony D’Orazio and Jacob Lamont withdrew. Joe Bishop-Henchman was elected on the second round[11][12]
