On 31 August 2020, two explosions in the United Arab Emirates killed three people and injured many others.[1] The first explosion occurred in Abu Dhabi, killing two people, including a Sri Lankan.[2] while the second explosion occurred in Dubai, killing one.[1]

The explosion in Abu Dhabi occurred at a KFC restaurant near the airport, hours before the first official direct flight from Israel to the UAE to commemorate the countries' peace agreement. News sources from the UAE indicated that the explosions were caused by kitchen gas canisters.[3]
