The 2021 Asian Cup is scheduled to be the 15th of the Asian Cup cricket tournament, with the matches being played as T20 International. It is scheduled to be held in June 2021, upon the cancellation of the 2020 Asia Cup.[1], due to the COVID-19 outbreak[2]. It is going to be hosted by Sri Lanka, with Pakistan's hosting rights pushed to the 2022 Asia Cup[3].

Background[edit]

Originally, the Pakistan Pakistan Cricket Board was to be hosting the 2020 Asia Cup (now 2021), but due to the severe COVID-19 outbreak, the 2020 Asia Cup was postponed/cancelled to June 2021, therefore now called the 2021 Asia Cup, and due to this, Sri Lanka Sri Lanka will get to host the 2021 Asia Cup[4]
