On December 27, 2021, Lyndon James McLeod went on a targeted shooting spree in Denver and Lakewood, Colorado, killing five people and injuring two before being shot and killed by police.

Background[edit]

McLeod had written novels under the pen name of Roman McClay in which a character named Lyndon MacLeod perpetrates mass murders, with some victims in the books bearing the same names as some of his eventual real victims.[1] He was known to law enforcement as having extremist alt-right views, having been investigated in 2020 and earlier in 2021.[2] McLeod described himself as a sigma male, a term used in the misogynist collective known as the manosphere.[3]
