The Pittsburgh mayoral election of 2021 will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, to elect the mayor of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Two-term incumbent Bill Peduto will be eligible to run for a third term.[1]
Candidates[edit]
Bill Peduto[edit]
Incumbent Democrat Bill Peduto said on Pittsburgh radio channel WESA on August 25, 2020 that he fully intends to run for reelection in 2021.[2] This announcement was made during a period of unpopularity in which critics claimed that Peduto was handling social justice protests poorly.[3]
Tony Moreno[edit]
On September 19, 2019, retired police officer Tony Moreno announced that he was going to oppose Peduto as a Democrat. The early candidacy declaration was in order to gain popularity, according to Moreno.[4]
No Republicans have announced candidacy for the mayorship.[5]
