Play-Out System[edit]
The KTFF Play-Out system is a way in which the 3rd team relegated to the KTFF 1. Lig is determined. While the last team in the KTFF Süper League is relegated immediately, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th placed teams are placed into the KTFF Play-Out group. Points are gained from the regular season are halved and the teams play matches facing each other one time. The team with the least amount of points after 3 matches will be relegated from the Super League.[26]
Squad Regulations[edit]
The KTFF have declared that for the 2022-23 KTFF Süper Lig season, each squad must feature a minimum of 5 players born after the date 01.01.2000. Of which all 5 must be Turkish Cypriot nationals.[26]
Removal of Miracle Değirmenlik[edit]
On 20 January 2023, the KTFF announced that Miracle Değirmenlik S.K. would be removed from the 2022-23 season.[27] Their removal would be from all of their sporting teams in the Süper Lig, A2 Süper Lig and their U16 team. The KTFF declared that the team did not comply with the Club Registration and Signature Circular Statement (Kulüp Tescil Taahhütnamesi ve İmza Sirküleri Beyannamesi). Therefore, the side from Nicosia will not compete in any games for the rest of the season. The KTFF announced that Miracle Değirmenlik will compete in the 1. Lig from the 2023-24 season, their A2 team will also be relegated and compete in the 1. Lig from the 2023-24 season.
The Turkey-Syria Earthquake[edit]
Due to the Turkish-Syrian Earthquakes that occurred on the 5th of February, the KTFF originally delayed all matches to the 13th of February[28], which was then extended to the 20th of February[29], as a mark of respect for those who lost their lives, including Amaç Arnavutoğlu[30], a Göçmenköy executive whose loss was felt heavily in the footballing community in the TRNC.
Super League Play-Out[edit]
Following the end of the regular season, as Gönyeli were the last team in the league, they were relegated immediately. Whereas Türk Ocağı Limasol, Hamitköy, China Bazaar Gençlik Gücü and Çetinkaya played each other in a tournament group stage style format to determine who would be relegated. Only the team who finished 4th would be relegated. To begin, the points for all teams were halved and the group stage fixtures were set so that 1st would play 4th, then 3rd, then 2nd. Çetinkaya defeated Hamitköy 4-2[31] and Türk Ocağı Limasol defeated China Bazaar 2-0[32] in the first round. Çetinkaya defeated Türk Ocağı Limasol 5-3[33] and China Bazaar defeated Hamitköy 3-1[34] in the second match. These results meant that. Çetinkaya and China Bazaar Gençlik Gücü were guaranteed to stay in the Super League therefore their final matches would not be played. This meant that Türk Ocağı Limasol and Hamitköy would play the final match in the Gazimağusa Dr. Fazıl Küçük Stadium. On the 25th May 2023, in a match where a draw was enough for Ocak to stay above[35], a 90th minute goal by Doğukan Atuntaş to draw the game was enough for the team to stay in the league, Hamitköy was relegated.
