On 18 July 2022, a Jubba Airways Fokker 50 was performing a flight from Baidoa Airport to Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu, Somalia, when it flipped upside-down during landing, breaking out a fire. All 3 crew members and 33 passengers survived.[1][2][3]
Aircraft[edit]
5Y-JXN; the aircraft involved, was leased from Skyward Express, and performed its first flight in January 21, 1992.[4][5][6] It was delivered to Jubba Airways on 1 January 2017, registered as 5Y-JXN.[5]
Incident[edit]
The aircraft was conducting a landing on RWY05, when it slightly leaned to the left, with the left wing contacting the runway, it completely sheared off. The aircraft flipped upside down and erupted a fire[7], everyone managed to escape safely.[8]
