The 2022 Minneapolis teacher strike was a 3-week-long labor dispute between Minneapolis Public Schools and the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers. The strike began on March 8, 2022 when MFT failed to reach a contract agreement with MPS over compensation, benefits, retention of BIPOC teachers, staffing, mental health support, wraparound services (nurses, counselors, etc.), and class size caps. On March 27, the strike officially ended when teachers and Education Support Professionals voted to ratify the proposed revised contract. Monday, March 28th was designated a transition day with teachers and staff returning to schools to prepare for the students to return. Students returned to school on March 29th with a revised schedule and longer school year.
