On 19 August 2022, a rocket struck a market in the city of al-Bab, Aleppo Governorate, in Turkish-occupied Syria. The attack killed 15–17 people, including at least 5 children, and 30 others were wounded. The Syrian opposition and Turkey claimed the rocket was fired from Kurdish and Syrian government-held areas.[1][2][3][4]
The attack came 3 days after 25 people were killed, including Syrian soldiers and SDF fighters, in a series of Turkish bombardments and airstrikes in the Kobanî area of northern Syria.[5]
