The 2022 monkeypox outbreak in Spain is a part of the outbreak of human monkeypox caused by the West African clade of the monkeypox virus. The outbreak reached Spain on 18 May 2022,[1] making it the second country after the United Kingdom to experience the outbreak.
History
On 18 May 2022, the Community of Madrid regional government reported the first 8 suspected cases of monkeypox, and 7 of them were confirmed by the Ministry of Health on 20 May 2022.[1]
