The 2024 Kissena Park sexual assault case is an ongoing criminal case in New York State involving the kidnapping of two 13-year-old children in Kissena Park, Queens, and the subsequent rape of one of the children while the other was forced to watch. The case made global headlines in June 2024 and sparked a citywide manhunt in New York City for the perpetrator.[1]

Incident[edit]

On June 13, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., two teenagers were inside of Kissena Park in Queens, New York, when an unidentified man approached them, produced a machete-style knife and forced them into the brush out of the sight of other pedestrians. The man then used shoelaces to tie the wrists and ankles of the teenagers, gagged them, took their cellphones from them and proceeded to cut their clothes off with the knife before raping one of the teenagers while forcing the other to watch.[2] The man then told the two teens to “stay put” for 20 minutes before fleeing the scene of the crime.[3][4]

Manhunt & arrest[edit]

The New York Police Department released a police sketch of the perpetrator and offered a $10,000 reward for information that would lead to his arrest - sparking a citywide manhunt.[5][6][7][8] A suspect has been arrested.[9]
