On March 19, 2024, a call came in to the Berea Police Department, Madison County Schools Office, Madison Southern High School and Foley Middle School about there being a bomb placed near or in Madison Southern and Foley Middle. This call prompted a swift response from the Berea Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Kentucky State Police.[1] Madison Southern and Foley Middle could not evacuate their buildings due to the caller also stating that there were long-range shooters outdoors. The Kentucky State Police swiftly shut down surrounding roads such as Glades Road (The road that Madison Southern and Foley Middle are on) for safety reasons in case there was truly a bomb on the school's campuses. The Principal of Madison Southern had a direct call with the unknown perpetrator and a student who asked Principal Jeremy Phillips what was going on, He said "...This guy called in a bomb or something. I don't know who he was, but whoever he was he did not sound American." He also later described the voice being of Turkish or Russian origin.

On March 21, 2024, Another bomb threat was called in to Kingston Elementary School and Berea Police Department swiftly evacuated Kingston Elementary and were relocated to Church on the Rock.[2][3] All called in threats were concluded as false.

Aftermath[edit]

After the false bomb threat was called in to Kingston Elementary the United States Homeland Security was contacted about the incidents. Madison County Schools have had no swatting threats since.[citation needed]
