The 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft, also known as the 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft presented by Ally for sponsorship reasons, will be an expansion draft held by the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) for two expansion teams, Bay FC of the San Francisco Bay Area and the revival of Utah Royals FC, to select players from existing teams in the league.[1]
Format[edit]
The NWSL granted Utah Royals FC and Bay FC the ability to select the asset selection orders in which they would have the first pick. Per the result of a random number generator, Utah Royals FC selected first and opted to acquire the first-overall selection in the 2024 NWSL Draft. Bay FC then opted to acquire the first-overall selection in the Expansion Draft.[1]
The draft will alternate between each team across 12 rounds, allowing each team to select up to 12 players.[1]
