The 2025 J3 League, also known as the 2025 Meiji Yasuda J3 League (2025 明治安田J3リーグ, 2025 Meiji Yasuda J3 Rīgu) for sponsorship reasons, is the 12th season of the J3 League, the third-tier Japanese professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 2013.

Overview

This is the last J.League season played in a whole calendar year from late winter to early winter, with the following season onwards played from summer to spring.

Schedule

The league and match format were announced on 25 November 2024, with the season starts on 15 February 2025 and will conclude on 29 November 2025.

Promotion play-off has been scheduled from 7 and 13 December 2025.

Change from previous the season

Tochigi SC, Kagoshima United and Thespa Gunma were relegated to the J3 League, finishing the previous J2 League season as 18th, 19th and 20th-placed teams, respectively. Kagoshima United, Thespa Gunma and Tochigi SC are returning to the J3 League after one, seven and five seasons in the second-tier.

YSCC Yokohama and Iwate Grulla Morioka were relegated from the previous J3 League. Iwate Grulla Morioka relegated to JFL for the first time in their history, while YSCC Yokohama returning to fourth tier from next season. Both teams ended in third tier after twelve years, respectively.

Tochigi City FC and Kochi United are promoted from previous JFL season as Champions and runner-up after get a J.League license. Both teams will play in J.League for the first time in their history for this season.

J3 winners Omiya Ardija, runner-up FC Imabari and promotion play-off winner Kataller Toyama were both promoted from the 2024 season.
