On 16 July 2025 at 20:37:39 UTC (12:37 p.m. Aleutian time),[1] a M7.3 earthquake struck off the Aleutian Islands at a depth of 13.1 miles (21.1 km) in Alaska.[2][3][4] A tsunami warning was issued but soon cancelled,[5] the maximum wave height at Sand Point 55 km north of the epicenter being approximately 3.9 cm. It marks the latest in a surge of 7.0 or greater earthquakes in the region since 2020.[1]
