24 Oras Weekend (24 Hours Weekend) is the flagship national network news broadcast of GMA Network every weekend. It is a weekly national newscast which airs at 5:00–5:45 PM (Sat) and 5:30–6:15 PM (Sun) (PST).
History
Before the launch of the Weekend Edition of 24 Oras, the anchors of news were Mel and Mike (Former Anchors of Saksi from 1995–2004, Mike from 1996–1998, Mel). The coverage of news included Typhoon Ondoy, the 2004 and 2007 elections. 24 Oras Weekend began replacing GMA Weekend Report, sharing studios with 24 Oras. Since early 2010–2011, the opening billboard was shortened, and from 2011–2014 it was lengthened, then shortened again from 2014–present. The studio was also updated. Before the launch of the weekend edition, 24 Oras occasionally appeared on weekends during special coverage (e.g., typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng, and the Maguindanao massacre) and the weekend before the elections instead of airing GMA Weekend Report or Flash Report Special Edition from 2004–2007, which was also anchored by Enriquez and Tiangco (these were called Tutok:Eleksyon 2004/2007. The two also appeared in the Sunday edition before the 2010 and 2013 elections). Notable guest anchors (who once appeared) for the special edition were Saksi anchors Arnold Clavio and Vicky Morales. On February 21, 2010, the weekend edition of 24 Oras[7] was launched, replacing GMA Weekend Report. Former Balitanghali anchor Pia Arcangel and Reporter's Notebook host Jiggy Manicad were the anchors of the weekend edition.
