28854 Budisteanu (provisional designation: 2000 JP56) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on May 6, 2000 by the LINEAR Program of MIT Lincoln Laboratory at the Socorro observatory site in New Mexico. The Minor Planet (28854) Budisteanu is named for Ionut Alexandru Budisteanu in recognition of his achievement as a top award winner in the 2013 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, a high school science competition of Society for Science & the Public and Intel Foundation. At this competition, in 2013 Ionut Alexandru Budisteanu also won the Gordon E. Moore award – the grand award.
