2x is a Chilean Nu Metal/Rap Rock band, Founded in Santiago, Chile. They are famous for being one of the first Nu Metal bands in the country along with Dracma.
Formed in 1994, They became popular playing in the underground music scene in the country, then they signed a deal with BigSur Records and released their debut album Pateando Cráneos in the year 2000.
History
The band began in 1994 in Santiago, Chile, where they began to move in the country's underground circuits and where they are considered pioneers of the "Aggro Metal" (Nu Metal) movement in Chile. Shortly before releasing their first album, their bassist Alejandro “Chano” Gongora Cortez left the group to dedicate himself to his studies, he was subsequently replaced by Pablo Trejo, thus leaving the band composed of Alex de La Fuente (Vocals), Daniel Tobar (Drums), Javier Hernández (Guitar) and Pablo Trejo (Bass). Subsequently, 2X released their debut album Pateando Cráneos in 2000, managing to sell more than 7,000 copies and have 3 singles on the most important radio stations in Santiago, in addition to launching 3 music videos on MTV.
This was followed by the album titled Lucha Eterna in 2002, which sent them on a tour of Europe for 6 months. Upon returning from said tour, the band suffered a breakup and dissolved throughout 2004. At the end of that year, Alex de la Fuente became interested in forming the band again, but this time he was only accompanied by Pablo Trejo (from the original lineup), and then Alex decided to recruit two old friends, the brothers Tulio Rosales and Damian Burton, since Daniel joined the melodic hardcore band BBS Paranoicos and Javier settled in Berlin and dedicated himself to production of a new band. Therefore, the band was made up of new musicians, leaving a completely new lineup. This lineup remained active until 2006, their last performance being at the Usach festival that year. 2x has supported famous bands such as Deftones, A.N.I.M.A.L., Ill Niño, Kittie, Fear Factory, Carajo, Limp Bizkit, Coal Chamber, Soulfly, Chimaira and Psycho Realm. The band with their new lineup released their album En Pie De Guerra in 2008, afterwards it was performed live at several festivals and gigs locally. In 2014 the band participated in events throughout Chile and in the largest rock festivals, and they published their new album, “El Camino Del Guerrero”, whose first chapter was released during the first half of 2014. On the 11th of September 2013, the band released the Music Video for the single “al choke” from their new album.
