3BL Media
3BL Media, Inc. is a communications company that distributes news and information related to corporate responsibility, sustainability, and social impact.[1] The company works with corporations, non-profits, and other organizations to share content on environmental, social, and governance issues. It is based in Northampton, Massachusetts, and operates internationally through a network of media and distribution partners.[2][3]
History
3BL Media was founded in the late 2000s with a focus on digital distribution of corporate responsibility and sustainability content. In 2011, the company acquired CSRwire, a platform dedicated to corporate social responsibility news.[4][5] Two years later, it acquired Justmeans, a social media site centered on sustainability and stakeholder engagement.[6][7]
In 2012, 3BL Media purchased SocialEarth, a network of writers focused on social innovation and entrepreneurship.[8][9] The following year, it acquired ReportAlert,[10] a United Kingdom–based service that specialized in distributing corporate responsibility and sustainability reports.[11][12] In 2015, the company expanded its presence in the United Kingdom by purchasing a London-based communications firm.[13][14]
In 2017, 3BL Media acquired CR Magazine and the Commit!Forum, adding conference and publication assets focused on corporate responsibility.[15][16] The company has also integrated tools for measuring and reporting on sustainability communications, including the use of responsibility scoring in its media solutions.[17][18]
Through its acquisitions and partnerships, 3BL Media developed a platform that distributes sustainability reports,[19][20] corporate announcements, and social impact news from a range of industries.[21] It also operates TriplePundit, an online publication that shifted toward solutions journalism in the 2020s,[22][23] and hosts a network that includes educational and community organizations such as the Green Bronx Machine.[24]
