3 Sided Cube is a product-development agency based in Bournemouth, England.[1] It develops mobile and web tools used by charities and non governmental organisations (NGOs), including the American Red Cross and The Virtual Doctors.

History

Duncan Cook founded 3 Sided Cube in 2009.[2] The firm’s first projects were web-development based. It later shifted toward ‘tech for good’ work, building emergency and health-related software. Their services have also expanded to cover mobile app and AI workflow development. During the COVID-19 outbreak it digitally supported purpose-driven organisations like RSPB, LUSH and Global Forest Watch.[3]

Projects

In 2014 the company built the Blood Donor App for the American Red Cross. It allows users to book and track donations and has passed one million downloads.[4] The app received a Webby Award in the Public Service & Activism category.[5] The Bournemouth Echo later reported its recognition at international awards.[6]

In Africa, 3 Sided Cube helped the charity The Virtual Doctors create a telemedicine system linking rural health workers with UK volunteer health professionals. The work won a 2024 Gold Lovie Award.[7][8]

The BBC covered one of its earlier apps, made for the American Red Cross, which helped users prepare for varying natural disasters through monitoring alerts in your town.[9]

Recognition

3 Sided Cube has been mentioned in trade and charity media for its “tech-for-good” approach.[10] Its projects have earned a Gold Lovie Award and Webby Award recognition.[11][12]
