The 3rd & Short Podcast is an American football Podcast based in Blackpool, England.

Early Beginnings

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jamie began creating content for podcasts, which began with Conversations With... On his 2nd episode [1] he had Comedian Matt Davenport on the show to talk about Stand-Up Comedy and American Football. From this, talks were then held with Matt Davenport and Tom Higgins to host an American Football Podcast for the 2020 NFL season. They then got Jamie in to produce the first episode which premiered on October 1, 2020.[2] Following the first episode, Jamie was then added to the line-up and the three began hosting on a regular basis, with Jamie having an onscreen Producer role and Tom and Matt hosting. Gary Bewick-Ewing was brought in to help with the socials.

The Podcast

For the first 24 episodes of the show, the guys would record their episodes via Zoom and then upload them to YouTube and various podcasting platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Deezer. They would talk about the weekly games, review and preview how their teams did and have recurring segments like 'Beer of the Week'.

Throughout the season, they would regularly have guests on the show to talk about how they got into NFL and share their love of the sport. Some of the guests included fans across the UK, Scott Simonson former Tight End for New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders,[3] Casey Phillips reporter for Tampa Bay Buccaneers[4] and Canadian football coach and Sky Sports NFL telecaster Jeff Reinebold.[5]

Once the season was completed, and from Episode 25, all episodes were broadcast live on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Twitch. During these episodes, the 3rd & Short Podcast would speak to the fans, and often request questions from the audience providing a platform to interact with the listeners.

During the Off-Season of the NFL, the 3rd & Short Podcast launched a Spin-off show featuring Bones, Jordan, JP and Mark who have all been guests on the show. On this show, which featured all the guys living in different parts of the United Kingdom they came together to analyse and break down Offensive and Defensive players and provided more in-depth analysis for the listeners.

Bones Blackpool, England
Jordan Yorkshire, England
