The 5Wkids Outdoor Learning Area is sponsored by the Augusta International Raceway Preservation Society, a 501C3 Non Profit Organization. This 15-year project is supported by the Augusta/Richmond County Parks and Recreation Department and the Augusta Public Library System. Project is located at the former Augusta International Raceway that is being developed into Diamond Lakes Regional Park and is open to the general public with no admission charge with intend to educate young folks in an outdoor environment.

The Augusta International Raceway is a former racing facility in Augusta, Georgia that operated between 1960 and 1970 and many consider the largest of its kind during its period of operation. The track fell into foreclosure and physical property became part of the local governmental agencies who began developing into a public park in the 1990s.
