765874 - Unification
765874 - Unification is a science fiction short film set in the Star Trek Universe. It stars William Shatner and is directed by Carlos Baena. It is notable for it's extensive use of CGI, especially digital de-aging technology, and for it's extensive connection to various aspects of Star Trek, both canonically and in the extended fictional Universe.
Plot
The film starts with an image of Gary Mitchell, a character from the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) appearing in the second pilot episode of Star Trek: The Original Series (TOS) "Where No Man Has Gone Before" [1] It then shows a seres of images before going into a garden wherein a figure walking through it is revealed to be Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner), wearing the uniform he died in during the film Star Trek Generations. He comes to small crowd of humans and aliens who part to allow him through. These include an older Saavik and her apparent son. He takes an older style communication badge from an alien and is seemingly transported to a black corridor with a wet floor and strong light at the end. Here he sees older and younger versions of himself before walking to the light. He then appears in a room where his friend Spock is lies waiting on a couch. They wordlessly hold hands and look into the distant sun, apparently ready to go on a final journey together.
