Davidschlag (minor planet designation: 9097 Davidschlag) is an asteroid in the main asteroid belt, discovered by Erich Meyer, Erwin Obermair and Herbert Raab in 1996.
It was the first austrian astromer discovery after a break for 73 years.
The last austrian discovery 1073 Gellivara by Johann Palisa was in 1923.
Classification and orbit
The asteroid is a member of the Themis family, a large group of asteroids in the outer main-belt. It orbits the Sun at a distance of 2.75–3.52 AU once every 5 years and 8 months (2,034 days).[2]
Naming
Named for a small rural village near Kirchschlag, some 10 km to the north of Linz, at the entrance to a region known as "Sterngartl", or "small garden of stars". This object is the first minor planet discovered at the amateur astronomical observatory that is located in this village.[3]
Diameter
The Collaborative Asteroid Lightcurve Link adopts the results obtained by 6 observations made by ATLAS dual-band photometry and NEOWISE, that is a diameter of 12.36 kilometers with an absolute magnitude of 13.52.[4][5][6]
