THE OFFICIAL SOUTH AFRICAN 9 PEAKS CHALLENGE or SA 9 PEAKS CHALLENGE REGISTER'

In 1994 South Africa was divided up into 9 provinces, each with its own Provincial Government and Capital. This change gave birth to a mountain adventure known as the SA 9 Peaks Challenge set in South Africa, which requires scaling the highest peak in each of the 9 Provinces in South Africa. A combined road trip covering over 3500 km, where you will gain a total height of over 8500 m, almost the height of Mount Everest and hike around 147 km on foot. This challenge can be done over years, months, weeks or days. Four of the peaks require a high level of fitness, proper equipment and clothing, good map and GPS reading skills, while the other four are straight forward and most people with average fitness levels will be able to complete them using simple GPS co-ordinates.

Who was the first person to complete the SA 9 Peaks Challenge? Who was the first woman or the first women's team?, the first mixed team or the first men's team?. Who was the first man or woman to complete the challenge solo? We may never know simply because the first records only appear from January 2008, fourteen years after South Africa was divided into 9 provinces.
