ACT Expo (formerly an initialism for Advanced Clean Transportation Expo[1]) is an annual trade show and conference held each spring in the United States. The event is organized by the Clean Transportation Solutions[2] team at TRC, member of WSP, and draws an audience of commercial fleet operators from all on road sectors, vehicle manufacturers, technology developers, fuel and infrastructure providers, and public sector representatives. [3]

The event showcases emerging commercial vehicle technologies[4] and industry policy discussions. In 2025, Trade Show Executive named ACT Expo as the Fastest-Growing Transportation Show and named it a Gold 100 Show.[5]

History

ACT Expo was first held in 2011[6] in Long Beach, California as the Alternative Clean Transportation Expo. The event was created as a conference and trade show for fleet operators, transportation executives, vehicle manufacturers, fuel providers, and other stakeholders focused on alternative fuels, low-emission vehicles, and cleaner transportation technologies for commercial fleets.[7] The event was held at the Long Beach Convention Center in 2011 and 2012 before expanding to other U.S. markets, including Washington, D.C., in 2013[8] and Dallas, Texas in 2015.[9] Long Beach remained a frequent host city, with the event returning in 2014 and again from 2016 through 2022[10].

In 2017, the event Advanced Clean Transportation Expo to[11] reflect a broader focus on advanced vehicle technologies and fuels used in commercial transportation, including electrification, hydrogen, renewable fuels, automation, and efficiency-focused solutions.

As attendance and exhibitor participation grew, the event moved to larger venues, including the Anaheim Convention Center in 2023[12] and 2025, and the Las Vegas Convention Center in 2024 and 2026. [13]

By 2026, the event was commonly referred to as ACT Expo[14], with programming covering commercial fleet technologies, fuels, infrastructure, operations, and emerging digital solutions such as autonomy, software defined vehicles, and artificial intelligence. [15]

Event Highlights

ACT Expo features a multi-track conference program, an exhibit hall, and interactive Ride & Drive event that highlights the latest technologies in commercial fleet operations.[25] The conference agenda includes keynote sessions, technical workshops, and educational tracks covering:[26]

  • Zero-emission vehicle deployment and electrification strategies
  • Hydrogen and low-carbon fuels
  • Charging and refueling infrastructure development
  • Fleet software, telematics, and data-driven fleet management tools
  • Autonomous systems, advanced vehicle safety technologies, and regulatory policy affecting commercial transportation[27]

Beginning in 2026, select sessions became eligible for continuing education credits[28] recognized by the NAFA Fleet Management Association[29] toward CAFM recertification, and for GBCI continuing education hours.[30]

The expo hall showcases more than 200 low- and zero-emission vehicles[31], along with fueling, charging, and telematics solutions from leading manufacturers and technology providers. [32] The Ride & Drive experience allows attendees to test vehicles ranging from light-duty service vans to Class 8 service trucks, highlighting the latest models available for commercial deployment,[33] recently featuring the Tesla Semi, autonomous and hydrogen-powered freight concept from Hyundai Motors and Plus, the Hyundai XCIENT fuel cell truck, the Kenworth T800El, and the Peterbilt Model 567EV.

In addition to exhibits, ACT Expo hosts multiple media events where OEMs, technology developers, and fleets unveil new vehicles, introduce emerging technologies, and announce partnerships.[34] Industry leaders often use the expo to announce new models and new production targets. [35]

In 2024, Aurora Innovation and Volvo Autonomous Solutions unveiled a production-ready Class 8 autonomous truck at the event. In 2025, Hyundai and Plus announced a debut of a combined autonomous and hydrogen-powered freight concept.

The Fleet Awards present annually at ACT Expo to recognize clean transportation technology deployments.[36]

ACT Expo 2027 will be held May 17 - 20, 2027 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
