ACT For America, founded in 2002, is a US-based national security grassroots organization devoted to preserving America's security, culture and freedom.[1]

The organization is known as the largest and most organized grassroots movement on the right, with almost two million members and half a million activists. ACT for America has helped pass 180 bills on the federal and state level, making it one of the most influential grassroots organizations in the United States.[2]

Activities and views

ACT For America was founded by its chairman and CEO, Brigitte Gabriel, a central figure to its growth. She is a Lebanese-American Conservative author, journalist, and political commentator.[3][4][5] ACT For America operates through two separate non-profit organizations. The first is ACT For America Education, a 501c3 founded in 2002 (original name is American Congress for Truth [ACT]) as a national security organization devoted to educating Americans about the threat of radical Islam and terrorism to world peace and national security.[3] Later, ACT For America, a 501c4, was established in 2007 to lobby elected officials to impact policy.[3][6]

Political impact

ACT for America has contributed to the passage of more than 180 bills on the federal and state level.[2] In 2022, the organization helped pass 41 bills related to election integrity.[2] ACT for America is currently lobbying for more than 130 bills related to election integrity and security in all 50 states.[2]

ACT for America has also supported causes such as free speech protection,[7] border security,[8] and support for law enforcement[9] and the military.[10] They also support constitutional freedom, education reform, and national defense.

ACT For America has held a National Security Annual conference in Washington, D.C. since 2009. In 2016, ACT for America’s conference was broadcast on the public affairs channel C-SPAN.[11]

ACT for America has also cultivated relationships with political figures that span the House and the Senate including many important figures in Washington, D.C. such as Mike Pompeo, former Secretary of State, Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida, and all the way up to the Trump White House.[12]

Grassroots mobilization and influence

ACT for America has over 2 million members including 500,000 activists and over 1,000 volunteer groups.[13] Its members and groups come from different backgrounds and beliefs united by the common mission to save America and its freedom.[14][15] Anyone can start a group or chapter as long as they adhere to ACT for America’s code of conduct that forbids affiliated groups to promote violence or hate speech.[14][15]

ACT for America has worked with groups affiliated with the Tea Party movement.[3]
