AEL Limassol
AEL Limassol is a Cypriot football club founded on 4 October 1930 in Limassol, and it has used blue and yellow as its official club colours since its establishment.[1]
The club is considered one of the most successful in Cypriot football, having won six league titles, seven Cypriot Cups, and four Cypriot Super Cups.[2]
AEL plays its home matches at Alphamega Stadium in Limassol, a venue that opened in late 2022 and holds a UEFA Category 4 rating.[3]
AEL’s founding assembly was held at the “Agios Georgios” confectionery shop in the centre of Limassol, where the foundations for the club’s future development were laid. The club’s first board of directors consisted of prominent members of Limassol society, including Kriton Tornaritis, who later became the first Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus.[1]
Ahead of the 2024/25 season, AEL announced Meridianbet as its main sponsor, with the partnership described as the largest commercial agreement in the history of the club’s football department.[4]
