ALPS Mountaineering is a camping gear manufacturer, whose products include tents, backpacks, and sleeping bags. Founded in 1993 by Dennis Brune, the company's most recent expansion is the camping gear line for Browning Arms Company.[1]
History[edit]
ALPS Mountaineering was started in 1993 by Dennis Brune, who had previously run Kelty, in rural east central Missouri. With his oldest child beginning middle school, the flexibility of starting his own company was enough to convince him to leave Kelty. Over the years the company has grown, becoming a very family oriented company with several members of the Brune family becoming employees.[2]
Products[edit]
ALPS produces many camping and hiking products under their four brands: ALPS Mountaineering, ALPS OutdoorZ, Browning Camping, and their budget line, Cedar Ridge.[3] Under these brands, they produce tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, air mattresses, and camping furniture like chairs, cots, and tables.
Distribution[edit]
ALPS Mountaineering products are primarily distributed through channels such as:
- Outdoor specialty stores like Sierra Trading Post, REI and Cabelas
- Online retailers like www.RedSkyPacks.com, Amazon.com and Sierra Trading Post
