AQUMON is a digital wealth management platform developed by Hong Kong-based financial technology (FinTech) company Magnum Research Limited. Combining automatic investment algorithms with technology platforms, AQUMON offers automated Robo-advisor services and systematic investment strategies to both individual investors and financial institutions.
Founded in 2016, AQUMON’s shareholders include HKUST, Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund and Bank of China International. The FinTech company has Type 1, 4, and 9 licenses from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and Registered Investment Advisors (RIA) license from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
History
In 2016, AQUMON was incubated in the HKUST Entrepreneurship Center.[1] by Magnum Research Limited. In the same year, the platform received its angel-round investment.
In 2017, AQUMON received the Type 1 and Type 4 licenses from SFC and its A-round investments from Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund [2] and Gobi China. The platform also won the Deloitte-HK Rising Stars 2017 [3].
In 2018, AQUMON expanded its product lines, launching mobile applications [4] that service individual investors in Hong Kong. On the institutional side, the platform launched a machine-learning driven multi-factor investment strategy (AI China Alpha Strategy) with ChinaAMC(HK) [5] and a Robo-advisor product “Run Zhitou” with China Resources Bank of Zhuhai [6]. AQUMON received its A++ round of financing from BOC International’s and Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund [7][8][9]. The platform also co-founded an Algorithm Lab with HKUST to explore the use of Artificial Intelligence on Portfolio Management [10].
In 2019, AQUMON cooperated with more financial institutions, including CMB Wing Lung Bank and Guangzhou Rural Commercial Bank. The platform also received Type 9 license from SFC and was selected into Cyberport’s Incubation Program [11].
Products and services
The services AQUMON offers are algorithm-based investment strategies and automated investment services (Robo-advisor).
To individual investors, AQUMON offers a Robo-advisor app that provides investors with access to a diversified ETF portfolio.
For financial institutions, AQUMON offers systematic investment advisory services and white-labeled digital wealth management solutions.
