Most colonial missions start out the same way. You take a group of people that want to go and settle a new world. They sit down and plan the adventure. After a few months of planning, they board their assigned ships, and head out into the unknown. They have everything they have anticipated they will need to establish their colony. That is where our story takes a left turn. Antonette had not planned to stay when she and her group escorted the Arizona out to meet Starbase 12. Starbase 12 was located in James’ quadrant. It orbited a planet that Command had begun building a military ground base on. No one was aware that they had entered a different quadrant of space when they started to build either the starbase or the ground base. The destruction of both Starbase 12, and the Arizona was their first indicator that they had entered hostile territory. Antonette had wanted to find a way to leave the tyranny of Earth behind. This opportunity seemed to be tailor-made to accomplish just that. Her colony was not equipped for such an adventure. They were military. For a colony to survive, they needed so much more. Elizabeth provided what Antonette had not. They were doing well. Then Mary appeared in orbit. She had her orders, but was conflicted as to how she was going to accomplish her mission. This is really the story of Mary and Elizabeth, and how they took two colonies that were destined to fail, and provided James with a substantial addition to his own military. It was a touch of deceit. It was a touch conniving. In the end, it was a touch of brilliance.
