A Routine Day is the tenth single by Canadian progressive rock band Klaatu, and the opening song on their third studio album Sir Army Suit, and is about a life wasted in the "9 to 5 grind". The song was accompanied by an animated music video, one of six made for a 30 minute animated film by the band. This video can be seen on the bonus DVD of the 2013 deluxe edition of Sir Army Suit.[1]

The B-side was "Older", a psychedelic hard rock song by the band from the same album.[2]

The song is known to be one the most Beatlesque songs in Klaatu's catalog, due to its "Liverpudlian" vocal styling and George Harrison-style guitar work.[3]

An instrumental outtake of the song is featured on the compilation album Solology.[4]

Personnel[edit]

  • John Woloschuk - vocals, bass guitar, keyboards
