Aakash Gautam (born 25 May 1998) is an Indian amateur astronomer and an educator and from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. He is best known for his space infographics, videos and visual imagery related to outer space and astronomy.[1][2][3][4][5][6] His infographics on Imgur platform weekly receives more than 100 thousand views, on average.[7] He is also known by his online alias Planet Aakash. [8][9][3] His work in space communication is recognised by Indian Academy of Sciences. He is deemed as one of the 'pioneers in new-age space communication' by India's largest youth-focused website Youth Ki Awaaz[2]. He is also the cofounder of CosmosNow astronomy magazine.[6]

Early life and background[edit]

He pursued his graduation degree Bachelor of Computer Application from Himachal Pradesh University and now pursuing his masters from the same in computer applications. His hobbies includes sketching, philately and speed cubing.[10]

Gautam’s work in space communication gained attention from several astrophysicists, space enthusiasts, science websites and social media users alike.[11][12][1] His infographics have accrued large number of followers on popular social media outlets such as Facebook and Imgur. He approximately, on average, receives more than 10,000 daily views on his Imgur page.[13]
