Aalokam: Ranges of Vision is a 2023 independent, experimental, Malayalam language anthology film directed by Abhilash Babu in his debut directorial. The film, a crowd funded one, has six different chapters, five of them based on the poems by the Victorian poet Robert Browning.[1] The film had its official premiere on 16 July 2023 [2][3] and had its YouTube release on 25 March 2025.[4][5]
Summary
Aalokam: Ranges of Vision presents a film within the film, in the first five chapters, while the last chapter tells the story of an aspiring director.[6]

Production
The actors of the film were selected through casting call and participated in an acting workshop before filming started.[3] Along with Robert Browning’s five poems, shown as a film within the film,[7] the final chapter uses a story by Egyptian Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz as a Drama.[8] The film was completed with a budget of twelve lakh fifty thousand, taking seven days for shooting on different dates of 2022 and 2023.
