Aaron Ball Band is an American Americana band from Pocatello, Idaho that formed in 2012. The band consists of Aaron Ball (lead vocals, guitars), David Bowman (piano, keyboards, organ, backing vocals) and Jared Smith (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Aaron Ball Band has done extensive touring across the United States, Canada and New Zealand, as well as tour dates in Australia, Japan, the Caribbean and Brazil.
Biography
Aaron recorded and toured with the Band “Somewhere in the Middle,” and wrote and recorded on their first two albums,“Stepping Stones” (2008), and then the band’s 2010 “Purple” EP, recorded at Fudge Studios in New Orleans and produced by Tom Drummond of Better than Ezra. As that band’s chapter came to a close, Aaron continued writing and performing as a solo artist until forming a new group under his name. He met David Bowman in 2013.
"New Beginnings”, the Aaron Ball Band's first Full-Length album, showcased a variety of styles from the country rock guitar driven song “Omaha,” to the ballad tones of “Second Gear” which received substantial radio airplay in the United States and New Zealand when it was released.
In 2016, the band met Jared Smith through mutual friends and the core group was created.
In 2022, the band released the single "New Strings" with an EP with the same name to follow.
In 2023, the band included bassist Morgan Hill. That same year they released three single; "This Road (Acoustic)", "I-35", and "Sense of Humor”.
2024 saw the release of their EP, "Aaron Ball Band”.
In April of 2025 they released the single "Better Man”.
Since the start, Aaron Ball Band has shared the stage with many different rock and country acts, such as Daughtry, Shane Smith and The Saints, Andy Grammar, Jelly Roll, William Clark Green, Gary LeVox (of Rascal Flatts), Rob Thomas, Lit, Train, Shinedown, Cody Canada, The Wilder Blue, Jeremy McComb, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Great White, Granger Smith and Smash Mouth to name a few.
Idaho Food Bank Music Festival
In 2022, Aaron Ball Band in conjunction with the Idaho Foodbank, created the annual Idaho Foodbank Music Festival. Aaron Ball Band and local musicians have come together for the past 4 years to raise money for the Idaho Foodbank. The family-friendly music festival is free, but donations to the Idaho Foodbank are encouraged. The Idaho Foodbank uses these donations to provide individuals and families with food security at no cost and works to provide services to rural counties while collaborating with healthcare providers and community leaders to find solutions to improve community health. They provide food to community kitchens where people can receive free meals and work with schools to feed children on weekends.[1][2][3]

Aaron Ball Band has had the chance to perform at many noteworthy venues and festivals including SXSW, NXNE[4], Hard Rock Cafe in Osaka, Japan[5], Whisky a Go Go, Gruene Hall, and The Howlin' Wolf to name a few.
Awards and nominations
Aaron Ball Band has received multiple songwriting and performance awards. Early in 2023, Jared Smith was nominated for a Josie Music Award for Musician of the year. Also in 2023, the band received 9 nominations for North West Country Music Awards for Music Video of the Year, Song of the Year, National Touring Artist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Drummer of the Year, Instrumentalist of the Year, and Guitarist of the Year. They won first runner up for Drummer of the Year and Guitarist of the Year.[6]
In 2024, the band once again was nominated for a Josie Music Award for musician of the year (drummer) and Americana band of the year.[7]
In 2025, the band received three nominations through the Josie Music Awards, this time for musician of the year for David Bowman on keyboards and Jared Smith on drums, as well as Americana group of the year.[8]
