Aaron was born in Norristown, PA, attended Perkiomen High School, and graduated from West Virginia University[2] in Morgantown, WV with a degree in business management. He was voted best dressed in high school.[3] Aaron’s earlier business endeavors included a nutrition shop followed by a fitness center. After selling his fitness center, he began to build his brand, Alpha M image, consulting, centering on men’s style and grooming. He created his YouTube channel Alpha M in 2008 to teach men how to improve their grooming, wardrobe, fitness, and lifestyle. In 2018, GQ featured Alpha M in an article calling him the original men’s lifestyle YouTuber.[4] His most watched video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uqe3cvNPYk “Finding the Right Haircut for Your Face Shape”] has over 7 million views. His website iamalpham.com hosts videos, how-to’s, and tutorials. Marino stated there is nothing by accident on YouTube and that he publishes a total of five videos per week on his YouTube and website.[5] Marino created Alpha M Style System, a series of six DVD's that teach men how to build a wardrobe and a personal style that will last and build confidence. The system also includes a one-month membership to Alpha M Consulting, which features one-on-one mentoring on style, fitness, and dating. Marino has appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank twice.[6][7] After an unsuccessful attempt at getting a deal on ABC’s hit show Shark Tank in Season 4, Aaron Marino had the opportunity to return and pitch another product on the show’s Season 7 finale.[8] Marino was quoted saying “For an entrepreneur, Shark Tank is like the Super Bowl of promotion. It was really the catalyst to my new business. When I was on there the first time, it was such a devastating experience overall in terms of result. It was heartbreaking.”[9]
During his first appearance on Season 4, episode 2, Marino did not get a deal for his alpha m style system.[10] Marino appeared on Shark Tank for a second time on Season 7, episode 29, with his company “Pete and Pedro” <link> which produced lower-price-point hairstyling products for men.[11] Real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran offered Marino $100,000 for 10 percent of his social media business. Marino accepted the offer on the show but did not carry through with it. Two days after airing on Shark Tank, sales exploded. Marino sold around $25,000 worth of Pete and Pedro products in those two days, the equivalent of two weeks of normal sales. Marino was quoted as saying “I was really interested at first with that deal because I wanted to do a deal. But the main reason I went out to Shark Tank was because I needed help with Pete and Pedro, and I really didn’t see... the partnership with Barbara was going to be really beneficial."[12] Marino joined the founding members of Chicago-based men’s skin care systems, Tiege Hanley, in 2015. The company specializes in skin care products, formulated by the company’s chemist, specifically for guys skin.[13] Marino chronicles the company’s growth in a weekly Sunday VLOG called Starting a Business and Building a Brand. Marino is also an active participant in the menswear networking conference held annually in Atlanta organized by Menfluential.[14]
