From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Abby Barry Bergman (born 1946) is a science educator, author, and school administrator.

Bergman earned a doctorate in science education at Columbia University and authored and co-authored several books in the area of science education and school administration. He served as a school administrator in public and private schools in the New York City Metropolitan Area. Bergman has received numerous awards and commendations for his work.[citation needed] A library was named in his honor at the Ralph S. Maugham School in Tenafly, New Jersey upon his retirement having served as principal of that school for over 20 years.

In 1977, Bergman was approached by the scientist and experienced author Professor Willard Jacobson to co-author a teacher training book on scientific method.[1] This resulted in Science for Children: A Book for Teachers, which was published in 1980 with subsequent editions in 1987 and 1990. The pair collaborated again in 1983 with Science Activities for Children, a book aimed at teaching science lessons to elementary school children. This second book was noted as being equally popular with parents, teachers and children.[2]

Currently, Bergman serves as Regional Science Coordinator for Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES, a consortium of school districts in New York State. In this capacity, he also directs the SCIENCE 21 program.[3]
