Abdiaziz Ali is a Somali freelance journalist with photography and video editing skills, mainly covering news in Somalia and East Africa.[1][not in citation given] He began his creative career as an online freelancer in Mogadishu, Somalia.[2]
Career
Abdiaziz started his career in 2018 at Ogaal Advert, an advertising agency, while still in high school. In 2020, he transitioned to a photographer role at Som Production,[3] a private media company in Mogadishu, Somalia. He is currently a reporter for Somali Inside News, an independent website based in Somalia and Canada, and some Somali websites that publish in Somali and English.[4]
Early life and education
Abdiaziz Ali was born in Mogadishu in 2002. He grew up in Mogadishu, and in 2006 he and his family moved to Barawe during the Ethiopian occupation of Somalia, also known as the Ethiopian invasion of Somalia or the Ethiopian intervention in the Somali civil war. It was an ongoing armed conflict, from late 2006 to early 2009.
When he learned the Holy Quran in the madrassas, in 2011 he returned to Mogadishu, where he received his primary and secondary education. He graduated from higher education in Mogadishu in 2022. He also completed the HHFA data analysis platform course provided by OpenWHO in 2023[5]
