Abdul Mobin Rizvi (born 10 February 1974) is an Indian politician and social worker from Jharkhand. He is known for contesting multiple elections from the Dumri Assembly constituency in Giridih district, representing different parties over time including Janata Dal (United), All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), and Rashtriya Jankranti Morcha (RJM). Despite his several attempts, he has not yet been elected as an MLA.
Early life and education
Rizvi was born in Isri, Dumri in the Giridih district of Jharkhand. He completed his secondary education (10th grade) from Madarsa Misbahul Uloom, Nawada, Hazaribagh.[1]
Political career
Rizvi first contested the Dumri Assembly seat in the 2014 Jharkhand Assembly elections as a Janata Dal (United) candidate. In 2019, he joined AIMIM and contested again, securing 24,132 votes and finishing fourth.[2] In the 2023 Dumri bypoll, he contested under RJKM and garnered 1,129 votes.[3]
Controversies
In August 2023, Rizvi was booked along with others for allegedly allowing slogans like "Pakistan Zindabad" during an AIMIM rally attended by Asaduddin Owaisi in Giridih. An FIR was filed for promoting communal disharmony.[4] However, independent fact-checkers later found no clear evidence of such slogans being raised during the rally.[5]
Personal life
He is involved in agriculture and operates a commission agency. According to his 2024 election affidavit, he declared assets worth approximately ₹2.7 crore and liabilities of ₹4 lakh.[1]
