Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi

Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi is a Qatari public figure, table tennis player, and referee. He is currently responsible for managing the construction of various stadiums to host the 2020 football world cup in Qatar.

Education and Career:

Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi has graduated from University of Leeds with a bachelor degree in Civil and Structural Engineering in 2009. He also graduated with master’s degree from HEC Paris in Strategic Business Management in 2014.

Abdulaziz worked for Qatar Petroleum after his graduation in “Special Projects Department” as Senior Project Engineer, which they were managing most of the major projects in Qatar and Qatar Foundation in specific. He also worked on many project in Qatar Foundation such as; QNCC and Qatar Foundation Stadium. Abdulaziz joined Spanish Design Consultant Office in Madrid “FIA”, designing the stadium for Qatar Foundation. During that time, Abdulaziz got involved in different projects in Qatar, designed by the same architect.

In 2013, Abdulaziz has joined Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, the entity responsible of delivering all stadiums and infrastructure for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, responsible for Stadiums’ Design and Technical issues. Being Senior Technical Manager, he was responsible in specific for; AlJanoub Stadium, AlRayyan Stadium, Education City Stadium, Training Sites, and Fan Villages, managing all technical, engineering and design issues.

Currently, Abdulaziz became Host Country Mobility Operations Director, responsible for; mobility, transportation, traffic, crowd management, and infrastructure, of all stadiums, official and non-official sites.

Table Tennis:

Abdulaziz has played for Table Tennis professionally representing Qatar SC. In 1994 he was drafted to the Qatar National table tennis team where he played in various international tournaments from 1994 until his retirement in 2005 . Currently, Ali is am international table tennis referee and holds the record for the youngest international table tennis referee ever since he was certified in 2001.
