His groundbreaking books “Makkah to Medina: A Photographic Journey of the Hijrah Route” and “Milestones of Arabia”[1] are widely considered as some of the most significant studies coming from a Saudi scholar in a generation. He regularly tours the world to promote his work and share his research.[2]

He began his career at King Faisal University in 1984 as a teaching assistant until he became a professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, College of Architecture and Planning, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU), and starting from 2012 he became Vice-President of the University For Studies, Development and Community Service. He walked between Makkah and Madinah during 35 years and he became the reference of the exact GPS locations for the prophetic routes[4]. He is well known for the discovery of the Saudi Milestones and his impressive work in documenting it in his book Milestones of Arabia[5].
