Abdullah Mohammed Said Al Kharusi

Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Said Al Kharusi (born 18 July, 1941) is a former Omani diplomat who has served in various positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oman and in External Foreign Service.

Biography[edit]

Al-Kharusi was born in 1941 Yemen. Raised in Yemen until his early teens, Al-Kharusi lived in Al Mukalla and was schooled in Alwsta school - Ghayl Ba Wazir where prominent Yemeni politicians studied. Al-Kharusi moved briefly to the island of Zanzibar where his paternal family lived. He completed his high school education at the Muslim Academy Zanzibar, East Africa. He later graduated from the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia 1969 with a Bachelors degree in Sharia Law. Al-Kharusi lived and worked in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait before moving to Iraq and Qatar before finally setting up home in Oman in 1973.

In 2005 he was named to the board of trustees of University of Nizwa. Ambassador Al-Kharusi was an Independent Board of Director for the Commercial Bank of Oman 1999-2003. He is the Founder and Chairman of Sital Group. Established in 1978 as Sital Enterprises restructured to Sital Administrative Consultancy in 1998. Sital has evolved as one of the pioneers in the field with more than 200 clients across the GCC.

He is married with four children.

Career[edit]

A career diplomat of 20 years, his last post Oman’s Ambassador to Germany and a non-residence Ambassador to Poland and Switzerland (1993-1999). Al-Kharusi was appointed as the first Omani Ambassador to Syria (1988 – 1993). He served as the Omani Ambassador to Kuwait from (1984 to 1988). He assumed the post of Oman Consul General in Karachi, Pakistan in 1980. Al-Kharusi was appointed as a Member of the Council of State (Majlis al-Dawla) for the third and fourth term in 2004-2007 and 2007-2011. [1]
