Abdullah Rubaet Chowdhury

Abdullah Rubaet Chowdhury (Robin) is a sustainability expert, social entrepreneur, and academic. He was born on 21 September 1985 in Chittagong, Bangladesh. He is the son of M. Wahidur Rahman, a prominent diplomat from Bangladesh. He pursued a degree in Business Administration at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and later obtained a Postgraduation in Sustainable Business from the University of Cambridge, and a Master's degree in Global Studies from the University of Freiburg and the University of Cape Town.

Career

USAID and climate resilience

Chowdhury worked as an Advisor for USAID's AI4R Project (2022–2023), contributing to climate resilience and migration initiatives.

Sporshok and advocacy work

In 2016, Chowdhury co-founded Sporshok, a citizen organization in Bangladesh focused on advocating against child labor and abuse. The initiative gained international attention, with coverage from major media outlets, including CNN.[1]

BRAC University and National Empathy Lab

From 2019 to 2022, Chowdhury was the University Proctor and Founding Director[1] of the Center for Emotional Intelligence & Innovation[2] at BRAC University.[1] He conceptualised the 'National Empathy Lab[3]', designed to foster youth engagement in empathy and social cohesion in Bangladesh.

Ashoka and Wellbeing Capital

Between 2013 and 2017, he served as Country Director of Ashoka Innovators for the Public in Bangladesh and South Asia. He co-founded the Wellbeing Capital platform[4]', in collaboration with the Levi Strauss Foundation and Bangladesh German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI),[4] aimed at improving conditions for 4 million workers[5][6]
