Abdullah al-Hashimi (Jawi: عبدالله الهاشمي) is an Iraqi Canadian who became the prince consort to Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah in 2022.[1][2] He is described as a "handsome foreigner" by local media.[3]

Personal life[edit]

Abdullah is a citizen of Canada and an Iraqi who resides there.[4][1] His parents are Nabil Mahmoud Abdulkadir al-Hashimi and Hana Mohammed Yonis.[5] According to the BBC, his father is professor who has worked at the University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD).[6]

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's blessing signaled the beginning of the proceedings on 16 January 2022, marking a 10-day royal wedding celebration at Istana Nurul Iman.[7] Their religious ceremony, which included a 17-gun salute, was held on Thursday at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. The marriage was then commemorated with a reception and the Istiadat Bersanding Pengantin Diraja ceremony on Sunday.[3] The pair exchanged vows on the 20th, and were legally wed.[8] Following this on the 23rd, he was bestowed the title of Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Suami.[9]
