Abdulle Gorod

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Capo Abdulle Gorod (Gelinsoor, 1900–1970, Mogadishu) better known as Abdille Gorod, was an elder and leader of the Habar Gidir subclan Sacad Reer Jalaf.[1]

As the Colonial War grew, with the breakdown of neutral people and no single successor to Italian and British rule emerging, the term "traditional" or "Capo" came into use in Somalia to describe heads of tribal and clan organizations and a complex web of regional and local domination.[2]

Capo Abdulle is listed as one of the main peacemakers of the 1940 Galkayo Conflict between the Sacad and Darod clans by the Italian Authorities of Mudug Province.[3]

He was arrested by Italian leaders in Barawe in 1950 and was detained until his release in 1960. He died in 1970.

Many of his descendants still today play a prominent role in Somalia, particularly in the Military.
