Abel Mavura is a Zimbabwean author[1], radio journalist and social justice activist based in France.[2][3][4]
Early life
Abel Mavura was born in Mutoko in 1986. He attended his primary and secondary education at Makosa School in Mutoko.[5]
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Great Zimbabwe University and a Diploma in Journalism and Communication from Christian College of Southern Africa.
Career and activism
Abel Mavura founded Marvel Acts Youth Organisation in Zimbabwe (MAYO) in 2003 for community development related initiatives, thus mobilizing communities, promoting democratic governance and initiating community peace building committees. Working as an inspirator with Action Aid Ghana, he participated in the building and capacity development of two movements namely, Activista Ghana and the Young Urban Women Movement. Abel Mavura is a volunteer ambassador to France of the European Students Think Tank (EST) where he represents EST in France on activities organised by the European Student Think Tank.[6][7][8][9][10]
In 2021, Mavura built a youth hub information center in Mutoko through his community organisation MAYO. [11][12]
Despite being an author[13], Mavura is a part time gospel musician with an album titled Ndiyo Nguva.[14]
