Abhay Gadgil
Abhay Gadgil is an Indian businessman and philanthropist, known for his leadership role at the P. N. Gadgil Exclusive jewellery brand, established in 1832 in Maharashtra.
He has also been active in Marathi television and cinema production and has held leadership positions in Rotary International.[1]
Early life and education
Abhay Gadgil was born and raised in Sangli, Maharashtra. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce in 1991, at Birla College, Kalyan, and an MBA.
Career
P. N. Gadgil Exclusive
Abhay Gadgil serves as a partner in the P. N. Gadgil Exclusive brand, a legacy jewellery house in Maharashtra with a legacy of 190+ years.[2] He has been associated with brand expansion and retail initiatives in Pune and Goa, as reported by independent media.[3]
Media and entertainment
Through Indian Magic Eye Motion Pictures, Abhay Gadgil has been credited as producer on Marathi television serials such as Agnihotra, Guntata Hriday He, and Eka Lagnachi Dusari Goshta, and on films including Chintoo, Chintoo 2, Tuhya Dharma Koncha and received a National Award for Best Social Film [4], Champion, Pune 52, and Pitru Roon (State Award).[5]
Industry associations
Abhay Gadgil has served as an executive board member of the Maharashtra Rajya Saraf Mahamandal from 2019, and the Pune Saraf Association from 2014. He was secretary & now Vice President at Pune Saraf Association, and the Federation of Trade Association of Pune from 2019.[6]
Rotary and philanthropy
Abhay Gadgil is a charter member (since 2003) of the Rotary Club of Pune University.[7] He served as President in 2009–10, receiving a Best President award, and as District Governor of Rotary District 3131 (Pune & Raigad) in 2017–18. During his tenure, District 3131 won a WiNs competitive bid of US$300,000 from The Rotary Foundation and reported total TRF collections of US$1.25 million, including US$600,000 for the Annual Program Fund.
Abhay Gadgil’s philanthropic support includes the Jagruti Blind School for Girls (Alandi), facilitating ~40 paediatric heart surgeries, and volunteering in Nigeria during polio-corrective surgery missions. He has held roles such as Organising Secretary for the Dazzling Dubai Zonal Institute (2016) and Assistant Rotary Coordinator for Districts 3170 and 3020. He is a Rotary International Paul Harris Society member.[8]
Personal life
Abhay is married to Deepa, a past president of the Rotary Club of Pune University. They have 2 children, Isha Gadgil & Akhil Gadgil. Their family members are Paul Harris Fellows.
