Early life and Education[edit]
Abhisheka Wimalaweera is the only child of කලාසූරී(Kalasoori) Sunil Wimalaweera [1]who is a film director[2]/ an author[3] and award winning lyrists[4] and Damayanthi Wimalaweera[1], who is a well-known beautician in Sri Lanka and the Chairperson of Damanayanthi Beauty Centre[5][6]. Abhisheka’s father has won 'Derana[7]', ‘Sarasawi’ and ‘Lux’ film awards and has written 26 books who has passed away[8] in 2016.
Sunil Wimalaweera is the younger brother of Ananda Sarath Wimalaweera who was the CEO at Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) and a well known lyricist who distributed ever green songs to Sri Lankan film music industry.
Primary Education[edit]
She grew up to be an outstanding vocalist and meantime completed her academic background to make her arts more profound and rich in quality. She obtained her Visharada, when she was only a teen hence such intellects backed by commitment and passion to her career of media and arts do truly deserve appreciation.
Secondary Education[edit]
She successfully completed her secondary studies at St Paul’s Girls’ School in Milagiriya. She sat Advanced Level examination in year 2007 and obtained ‘A’ grades for all subjects and ranked 27th in Colombo district.
Tertiary Education and Professional Qualifications[edit]
- She entered University of Colombo and completed her Bachelor Degree in Arts in year 2012.
- Completed Sangeeth Visharada Degree (Vocal) from Bhatkande University, Lucknow, India.
- Master in Music – University of Kelaniya
- Her commitment in education has not stopped at that, she is now a final year medical student[9] at Ayurvedic Medical Council Maharagama, -Degree in Indigenous Medicine specializing in Skin Care
- She has completed many professional qualifications related to beauty and well being
- Completed world federation exams in beauty
- Completed NVQ level 5 6
- Completed spa and beauty therapy diploma (City and Guilds )
Professional life[edit]
Artist/Singer / Media Person[edit]
Abhisheka Wimalaweera is a vocalist[10], playback signer[11], artist & media person by profession. She has conducted many tv programs ranging from children programs when she was young and other musical and documentary programs of recent past. Her talent in lyric writing was showcased through the poetry book launched in year 2012.
Launched six music video productions from year 2011 to date She has so far produced 6 music videos and held two live musical concerts. She has also featured as the main vocalist for many movie and teledrama theme songs. Since she started her career in media and arts while she was schooling, one of the main challenges was constantly to be focused and committed in media and arts as well as her academic studies. She successfully managed both these multi-disciplinary fields & she excelled in both without falling out in any. The same challenges on balancing time between studies and media career went on to be present during her university education but she managed to reach greater heights by successfully completing her degree and masters and in parallel reaching milestones of ‘kicking off her debut musical concert’ in her co-career of media and arts. She of course faced the challenges faced by any media personnel/artist in Sri Lankan context of not having adequate air play for her productions at the start. But her utmost perseverance kept her goals intact hence she could successfully combat many obstacles came in her way.

Abhisheka launched "ABHI[14][13]" in 2016 with the vision of bringing traditional herbal beauty care ritual of ancient Sri Lanka to a wider audience, including locals and foreigners.

Wedding & Evening wear Retailer She is the Proprietor of Abhi Fashion; a retailer specialized in wedding gowns and dresses. Abhi Fashion started in year 2013 and has been in operation successfully for the last two years. The wedding gown and dresses market in the Sri Lanka was relatively an untapped segment. Abhisheka strategically identified this business opportunity and started this business in importing high quality wedding dresses for the Sri Lankan market. Abhi Fashion is now operating as one of the main supplier of wedding dresses and gowns to one of the biggest fashion brand in Sri Lanka. Further, Abhi Fashions will be opening its flagship store in one of the prime locations in Colombo in the near future.
